Science and Our World (ages 11-13)
Total sessions: 20 (1 hour per session)
Sessions 1-4 The Sun and Earth In this class, the students will develop an understanding on how gravity works on objects. This class will help the learners investigate the effect of the Earth's shape, rotation and orbit on its daylight hours and seasons.
Sessions 5-8 Force and Motion In this class, students will learn to describe force and motion. Learners will develop an understanding to the types of forces that includes gravitational and frictional force. It is also designed that learners will create an experiment that will demonstrate what they have learned in this class.
Sessions 9-11 Plate Tectonics Learners will analyze the geological formation of and relationship between volcanoes, mountain ranges, and earthquake epicenters.
Sessions 12-14 Zodiac Constellations This session will focus on the special constellations observed in the course of a year due to the Earth's movement.
Sessions 15-17 You are What You Eat Learners will discover the different biomolecules found in common food and other living things.
Sessions 18-20 Mendelian Genetics This session will introduce learners to the concepts of heredity, cell division, and pattern inheritance.
