Science in Our World (Ages 11-13)

In this comprehensive multi-disciplinal Science course, intermediate learners will gain a deeper understanding of key scientific concepts and processes that animate the universe and our natural world. 

Each session will last between forty minutes to one hour and will be held once to twice a week. Vibal teachers will conduct virtual teaching at scheduled times. Class size is ten to fifteen students. Final schedule is flexible and dependent on number and schedule of enrollees.  


This course will contain downloadable activity sheets and resource materials. Parents or guardians will be provided with the activity plan throughout the course.

Ages 11-13

Sessions: 28 

Sessions 1-4: Plate Tectonics - Learners will analyze the geological formation of  and relationship between volcanoes, mountain ranges, and earthquake epicenters. 

Sessions 5-8: Zodiac Constellations - This session will focus on the special constellations observed in the course of a year due to the Earth's movement. 

Sessions 9-12: You are What You Eat - Learners will discover the different biomolecules found in common food and other living things. 

Sessions 13-16: Mendelian Genetics - This session will introduce learners to the concepts of heredity, cell division, and pattern inheritance. 

Sessions 17-20: Chromosomal Abnormalities - Learners will understand the different human conditions that may result due to incomplete or irregular behavior during cell division.  

Sessions 21-24: Elements, Mixtures, and Compounds - Learners will go on a deep dive to understand the particle nature of matter as the basis for classifying substances. 

Sessions 25-28: Gas Laws - These sessions will introduce learners to the relationship between volume, pressure, and temperature.
